Guqi Zhang specializes in individualized piano instruction, performance coaching, and professional accompaniment for instrumentalists and vocalists, with a focus on expressive playing, strong technique, and confident musicianship.
About Me
Guqi Zhang holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she studied piano with Dr. Timothy Hoft. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the Xi’an Conservatory of Music and her Master’s degree in Piano Performance from Miami University, studying with Dr. Frank Huang.

Her musical training also includes masterclasses and summer programs with distinguished pianists such as Ying Wu, Williard Schutz, and Antonio Pompa-Baldi. Ms. Zhang has received numerous honors, including Gold Medal Awards from the Bach Festival and the Seattle International Piano Festival, as well as the Best Performance Award at the Third Internationaler Deutscher Irmler-Klavierwettbewerb. She was also awarded the Excellent Teacher Award at the Fourth KAWAI Asian Piano Competition.

As an educator, Guqi Zhang embraces a holistic and student-centered teaching philosophy. She is committed to understanding each student as an individual and guiding them to discover their musical voice through piano study. Her teaching emphasizes confidence-building, personal expression, and perseverance, with the belief that music education plays a vital role in both artistic and personal development. Through piano instruction, she aims to foster self-awareness, optimism, and a lifelong appreciation for music in her students.
